Gian Renato Marchisio - Personal Biography
Gian Renato Marchisio approached the practice of Iyengar yoga with Maria Paola Grilli in 1998 while trying to solve a serious problem of asthma. After a three-year teacher training course, he obtained the qualification of International Teacher of the Iyengar method in 2005.
After completing a second teacher training course, he also obtained in 2010 the diploma for teaching Centered yoga, given by Dona Holleman. He is one of the charter members of ICYA (International Centered Yoga Association).
Following his passion for Ashtanga yoga since 2004, he has attended the teacher trainings for the first and the intermediate series of Ashtanga vinyasa yoga with Manju Jois. Gian regularly deepens the study and practice of Ashtanga vinyasa yoga with Kristina Karitinos-Ireland and at Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore.
On August 29, 2012 he obtained official authorization to teach Ashtanga vinyasa yoga from Manju Pattabhi Jois in accordance with the tradition taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.
In 2010 Gian opened, with his wife Stefania Valbusa, a shala in Torino (Yoga Sutra Studio) dedicated to the practice of Ashtanga yoga following the tradition, and at the beginning of 2013 he founded the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Torino Association.
From December 2012 onwards, he has studied with Sri R. Sharath Jois at the Sri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute of Mysore, and in January 2015 obtained his KPJAYI authorization to teach Ashtanga yoga.
