1. Yoga Thailand is a new Ashtanga yoga shala and retreat center on Ko Samui, Thailand. It has been set up by Paul Dallaghan and Jutima to offer the teachings and practices of Ashtanga yoga. Classes and programs begin in October, taught by Paul. All are welcome. We have comfortable Thai style bungalows, our own cooking staff so the food is exceptionally clean, yogic and healthy, a juice bar and an herbal steam room. And then there's the beach and turquoise water that the shala opens out on to. Full info is online at www.ashtangayogathailand.com. As Paul and Jutima spend a lot of time in Mysore each year the center will also be available for other qualified teachers to do their own programs at certain times. All facilities and staff would be available to you. Due to the nature of our location, most students tend to come on holiday or time out from their home place, hence the focus on timed programs. 2. Purple Valley Yoga Centre, Goa: Change of teacher for workshop. Unfortunately David Williams is unable to make it this season after all and has postponed until next season, but Manju Pattabhi Jois is coming instead, for the fortnight starting on January 3rd. He joins Nancy Gilgoff, David Swenson, John and Lucy Scott and Kristina Karatinos Ireland in a series of retreat-style workshops starting in December and going through until April. 3. A unique and exciting opportunity for a Southern Hemisphere based yoga teacher!
I am an English yoga teacher working in Manchester, UK. I currently teach 5 Ashtanga-based classes per week and 2 self-practice sessions. I am looking for a person who lives in either Australia or New Zealand who would be interested in being involved in a job swap (i.e., you would come to Manchester, live in my house and teach my classes, and I would teach your classes and live at your place. The duration of the swap could be anything from 1 month up to 6 months—I am entirely flexible (excuse the pun!!) and I am prepared to do this whenever suits you. Interested? 4. Back Bay Yoga Studio in Boston is looking for a qualified Ashtanga teacher beginning in January 2004. One of our teachers is traveling to India and Thailand for January, February and March and we need someone to substitute for her. You would need to teach led Ashtanga classes, both beginning and full primary and also be able to assist as needed in morning Mysore. Ideally, you are working on at least 2 series as we have some students in Second Series in morning Mysore. You need to have experience of having studied in India and be personable and open to working with all level students. Additionally, there would be space here to sublet for massage or other holistically related work if interested.
