1. "A Passion
for Yoga" - Major international yoga event to be held at the Landmark
Mandarin Oriental
Hotel
The Oriental Spa at the brand new Landmark Mandarin Oriental hotel
in the heart
of Hong Kong's Central district will be host to A Passion
for Yoga—a landmark yoga event from 9-11 September 2005
that will bring together for the first time two of the world's most
renowned and influential yoga gurus, and will help to boost Hong Kong's
status as one of the leading yoga centres in Asia. The event will include
seminars and classes focusing on the ancient exercise and meditation regime.
Ticket prices start from HKD
1,300 for a 1-day seminar to HKD 2,500 for the 3-day event. The event will
kick off with an evening opening ceremony on 9 September to introduce the
yoga masters, followed by seminars and classes on the 10 and 11 September.
The package will also include a daily organic healthy lunch, and special
accommodation rates at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental will be available
upon booking of the event.
The star-studded
line-up includes Sharath Rangaswamy, the world’s
most advanced Ashtanga Yoga practitioner from the Ashtanga Yoga Research
Institute in Mysore, India, as well as A.G. Mohan, a personal student
of the legendary Sri T. Krishnamacharya and author of Yoga for Body,
Breath and Mind. O. P. Tiwari from Kaivalyadham Yoga Research Centre
and finally Rajiv Chanchani, a senior Iyengar Yoga teacher who was responsible
for bringing Yoga into the Indian education system.
The event
will present a perfect opportunity for yoga practitioners of various
disciplines—from studios throughout Asia Pacific to
students within Hong Kong—to gather, share and experience the
authentic wisdom of yoga. Over the weekend, teachers and practitioners
will discuss, debate, practice and share personal experiences on yoga,
and examine its core principles, benefits, and diversity in style. Those
interested in participating in "A Passion for Yoga" should
telephone (852) 2132 0188 and ask for The Oriental Spa, or email lmhkg-yoga@mohg.com.
Bookings and inquires, please see www.mandarinoriental.com/landmark.
For Ashtanga
yoga enthusiasts, there will also be a separate,
one-week intensive taught by
Sharath Rangaswamy from September 12-16.
