1. The Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute will reopen for classes on May 1st.
Please
note that Sharath will not be teaching in Mysore from May - July 2006.
2. Guruji's Europe Tour 2006 - The living master of Ashtanga Yoga, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, is coming to Europe in August 2006 and will be giving workshops in France, Denmark and Finland. 5. Mayan
Jungle Yoga Retreat & Jungle Yogi Village - Riviera Maya, Mexico
It is
said that if you dig a hole in Mexico, you will eventually come out
in India. This connection between two ancient and mystic civilizations
provide the foundation for the creation of the Ashtanga Americas MAYAN
JUNGLE YOGA RETREAT & JUNGLE YOGI VILLAGE development. Michael
Gannon, the founder of this project, has acquired 30 hectares (300,000
square meters, for phase 1) of virgin land in the Mayan Jungle, 15 km from Playa del Carmen,
Mexico (www.playa.info). Three to five hectares are currently dedicated
to the Ashtanga Americas Jungle Yoga Retreat and the remaining land is
being subdivided and offered to fellow yogis and others on a similar
path, at less than $10 per square meter. This development will create
the first ever Yogi Village in the Western world. If you are interested

Yoga Dosha is a new studio located in the heart of Tempe. Yoga Dosha's
goal is to create a welcoming environment for students to develop their

Yoga guru Sri K. Pattabhi
Jois. Film-maker Robert Wilkins traveled to Mysore, India for
Sri K. Pattabhi Jois's 90th birthday celebrations in July 2005.
Students
descended from all over the world for this special event. Running
time: 28 minutes plus extras. DVD Extra Features: Exclusive (not seen in documentary) interview footage with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois; Dr. M.A. Jayashree explains the guru system; Sit at Mysore's coconut stand.

Style Book
Photographer Graeme Montgomery, art director Giles Kershaw and stylist/illustrator
Mark Whitaker documented the occasion of Guruji's 90th birthday and photographed
the incredible mix of yogis who had gathered in Mysore. Mysore Style is
a 220 page coffee table style book featuring 170 color and B&W photographs;
contributions from students and teachers including John Scott, Lino Miele, David
Swenson, Hamish Hendry, David Life and Sharon Gannon. All profits from book sales
will be donated to the Sri K. Pattabhi Jois Charitable
Trust.

Developed by an Ashtanga yoga practitioner, Naked Mat™ is a traditionally
woven, all-natural cotton rug with a non-toxic latex surface underneath.
It eliminates the need for a combination of a sticky mat and rug/towel,
or it can be used in addition to a sticky mat and have better traction
than a regular rug or towel.
