Ashtanga Yoga Shala has also extended its Mysore program and welcomes four new teachers to the school: Jessica Metz, Kristin Leigh, Petri Raisanen and Matthew Seidman.

Workshops will consist of conducted and Mysore classes, including instruction in voice, breath, and stillness. Dena is assisted by her husband Jack and their daughter Zoli, traveling with her from their home in Byron Bay, Australia. Family warmth, devotion to the practice, and a love of teaching combine to make the classroom safe and inspirational. Dena has studied and practiced traditional Ashtanga Yoga for the past 15 years and has completed the 4th Series. She is certified to teach the Primary, Intermediate, and Advanced Series by Sri K. Radha is cofounder of Yoga Plus, Europe's first Astanga Vinyasa Yoga Centre in Crete. With over 25 years of experience, she has taught throughout the world. Each year she spends three months with her teacher, Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, refining her yoga practice and teaching methods. Pierre has been practicing Astanga Vinyasa Yoga for over 5 years and spends several months annually practicing and studying with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India since 1993 and received Jois's permission to teach in 1996.

a registered nurse whose interest in alternative health led her to study natural medicine, massage, and eventually, Ashtanga Yoga. In the last six years, she has learnt from John Scott, Dena Kingsberg, Graeme Northfield and Lino Miele. She completed a three-month practical teaching experience with John Scott in 2001. She travels regularly to Mysore to continue learning from Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, who authorized her to teach in 2001.

This workshop is for advanced beginners and yoga teachers. The program will include: introduction to the internal energy body, breathing, dristi, bandhas, alignment and meditation to create continuous flow and meditative alignment; exploration of the Primary Series with close attention to the meditative quality of form and movement; detailed attention to subtle technique as a means of avoiding injury and integrating obstacles; examination of the finishing postures; exploration of the basic internal activity of ujjayi pranayama as meditation.

Raphael was initially introduced to yoga by Danny Paradise, which lead him to settle in India and study under Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, reaching advanced level in seven years. Having taught throughout the world he spent summers teaching with Danny in Oxford and Wales. As a personal yoga instructor he worked principally in Sussex whilst bringing up his son. Now settled in Umbria, Italy, he is painstakingly restoring an old water mill to it's former glory and running weekly classes in the area. Schedule:
Fri 7:00-9:00pm All levels: demo, talk, gentle class (through standing postures, maybe some variations)
Sat 10:00-12:30am Advanced: Primary Series, possibly some Intermediate Series, depending on the level of the students
Sat 4:00-6:00pm Beginners: up to navasana, also covering some variations
Sun 10:00-12:30am Advanced: Primary Series, possibly some Intermediate Series, depending on the level of the students
Sun 4:00-6:00pm Beginners: up to navasana, also covering some variations
Cost: EUR 35 per class; all three classes EUR 100. Numbers are limited, so book early to secure a place.

10. Tim Miller Teacher Training - Columbus, Ohio USA

This training is open to serious students and teachers of Ashtanga Yoga. Participants will receive 50 hours of training over one full week. Areas of study include: learning to read asanas diagnostically in order to make safe and effective adjustments; logistics of conducting a class (pacing, pronunciation, synchronization of breath and movement, verbal corrections); teaching based on observation of students' poses; a basic exploration of yoga philosophy, pranayama and mantra; daily practice of the Primary Series; precise counting in Sanskrit of the vinyasas of every pose in the Primary Series.

11. Oxford Ashtanga Yoga
Ian Macdonald has been coordinating regular monthly workshops for the Oxford, UK area for many years. 12. Maya Tulum Retreat with John Berlinsky & Lea Watkins

This retreat features daily morning Mysore classes and afternoon classes focusing on detail, technique and the philosophy of the practice. There will be a few evening sessions of yoga philosophy and discussion. John Berlinsky has been practicing yoga for 15 years and teaching for ten. He has studied with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois since 1993 and received permission to teach in 1996. Lea Watkins has been practicing ashtanga for 6 years and studying with K.P. Jois since 1996. She received his permission to teach in 2000.

13. David and Catherine Garrigues Ashtanga Yoga Beginning Teacher Training

This training is meant to provide devoted students of Ashtanga Yoga with an in-depth, transformative experience in the art of teaching yoga. The course will work well for: students who simply want to deepen their existing practice, regardless of whether they intend to teach; students who want to begin teaching but are not sure where or how to get started; beginning teachers who want to futher develop their skills to have more to offer their students; more established teachers who want to learn more specifically about teaching Ashtanga and/or want to further clarify and reach subtler layers of teaching. 14. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Amsterdam
Lessons, workshops and trainings are available at theater studio "De Loods," Prinseneiland 20 G (2nd door), just north of the train tracks and Harlemmer plein, 10 min walk from the Central Station. The instructors are Katiza Satya and Anna Stella, direct students of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois who were introduced to Ashtanga Yoga by Radha and Pierre of Crete. 15. Ashtanga Yoga Holiday Retreats in Ibiza, Spain
Nic Freeman and his partner Gemma Mallol, an Ayurvedic therapist, offer these retreats in Can Jundal in Ibiza. Featuring in-depth study of the Primary Series, the retreats are open to practitioners of all levels and experience. Maximum capacity is 14 so that students receive a lot of individual attention. Nic Freeman studied with Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore for 3 consecutive years and received authorization to teach. Nic also completed a 3-month teacher training course with Richard Freeman in Colorado, USA. See www.ashtangaom.com for information about upcoming retreats in June and September.
