1. AYRI News: Sri R. Sharath and family are pleased to announce the birth of a baby boy (as yet to be named) on September 24th. Sharath will be taking time off from teaching in the shala from September 2007 until January 6, 2008. The Shala will remain open as usual with classes taught by Saraswathi.

4. Guy Donahaye's classes in NYC have two locations now
Most classes are still at their East Village location, but they recently started a morning Mysore program at Centerpoint Yoga Studios, 324 Lafayette St (at Houston), New York, NY 10009, Ashtanga Yoga Sangha. Opening party at new location on Friday, October 5 at 6:30pm with an exhibition of Tom Rosenthal's photographic work, "Sacred Space." Tom has spent a great deal of time in Mysore over the last few years photographing advanced yogis in sacred settings. This is a first opportunity to see the results of his new work. "The practice of photography mirrors my yoga practice. Through repetition the magic happens. Shri K. Pattahbi Jois led me to the sacred internal space of practice. This group of photos celebrates the sublime beauty of yoga and the human body, and the universal spirit that lifts us all." - Tom Rosenthal.

1. Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series with Shri R. Sharath - Tokyo DVD
Shri R. Sharath from the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute visits Japan for the first time to share the sacred practice of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by his grandfather, Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, to over 180 students in Japan at the renowned International Yoga Center in Tokyo. The DVD contains a complete led primary series class taught by Sharath, special conference footage, and a fun look at Sharath's adventures in Tokyo.

2. Guruji in Copenhagen DVD (PAL version)
This documentary film follows Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and his yogic family, Sharath Rangaswamy and Saraswathi Rangaswamy, as they teach a five-day workshop on their first visit to Copenhagen in August 2006. More than 350 students from much of Europe came to meet them. Through commentary by Lino Miele, Susanna Finocchi and Jens Bache, one learns the history of Ashtanga Yoga in Copenhagen. The DVD contains 3 parts--the workshop (34 minutes), conference (20 minutes) and a beautiful 38-photo slide show.

3. The Only Way Out is In: A Modern Day Yogi's Commentary on the Synergy of Ashtanga Yoga, Ayurveda and Tantra - A new book by Anthony "Prem" Carlisi
This book is a spiritual memoir of the life and explorations of Anthony "Prem" Carlisi, as well as a source of practical, applicable information about the practices of Ashtanga Yoga, Ayurveda and Tantra. The synergy of these three sciences are what Prem believes to be the key to living a healthy, rooted and ecstatic life. The book is written in a down-to-earth way so that anyone can pick it up and enjoy it. He writes with an openness about the ups and downs of his experiences along the yogic path. Prem shares his wisdom in a light, funny and simple manner, making these esoteric topics approachable for yogis and householders.
