Holiday Greetings & Many Thanks from Mysore

On behalf of Guruji, Sharath, Saraswathi, Shruthi, Shradha, Rangaswamy and myself, I would like to thank all the participants who were able to join us on the most recent "Last Tour" and especially the individual hosts for all their hard work. It was very special to see so many familiar faces and to welcome new members to the Ashtanga Yoga family.

We returned to Mysore November 28th on the American holiday of Thanksgiving (certainly a day of giving thanks for me), all safe, happy and healthy. Within four days of our arrival, Guruji had already made two trips to Kauwshika, his home village (three hours in each direction) and has since made several visits to Bangalore. The family recently moved into the beautiful new yoga shala/palace/home, where Guruji will begin teaching January 16, the day after the regional New Year celebration, Pongol.

We hope this letter finds everyone in good health with happy feets behind their heads or, at least, on their mats, and we look forward to seeing you all in Mysore or wherever God has it planned down the Ashtanga Yoga Trail. Thank you again for your love and support. Everyone contributed to making this very ambitious 2002 tour a most enjoyable and memorable adventure, and a successful celebration of Guruji's life work.

Sri K. Pattabhi Jois: The Very Next Last Royal Celebration Tour, 2002

Greetings to the Ashtanga Yoga Community from Mysore.

It has been 75 years since Guruji was first introduced to the Ashtanga Yoga System by Sri T. Krishnamacharya, and March 1, 2002 marked 65 years since he began teaching, at the request of Krishnarajendra Wodeyar the former Maharaja of Mysore.

In light of the new yoga shala being finished, Guruji has decided on "one last tour (anyone heard that before?) going all places." Within the time frame that was allotted, we have decided on this ambitious and unique world tour with 12 stops. All will be one week visits (five days teaching) with the exception of New York (three weeks because Guruji and his family LOVE NEW YORK). Unfortunately, "going all places" was not possible because of the time restraints. But, this is a major effort and we are hoping as many familiar faces and new friends will be able to attend to help celebrate this wonderful man's life work which has been such a blessing on the lives of thousands of people all over the world and will be on many thousands of people in the future.

We have the opportunity to make these 2002 Ashtanga Family gatherings Guruji's Best Last World Tour.
