Maria Mytilineou - Personal Biography

Maria Mytilineou

Born and raised in Athens in the mid 1960s, Maria received her basic education in the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Science of the University of Athens. She made her living working as an aerobics instructor and personal trainer for 15 years while being an athlete of NAC (National Aerobics Championship).

A serious injury in 2002 made her unable to continue, and she chose for her own therapy to start practicing Ashtanga primary series with Kristina Karitinou. Her first class was a nightmare of fears as a deep cleansing process started, lasting three years. In 2005, she completed her first teacher training course with Kristina which was followed by many more. In 2008, Maria started teaching yoga herself in her own shala, Yoga-for-the-People, in Athens. Her life changed completely, and thus she decided to fully devote herself to yoga practice, teaching and studying.

It was in 2010 that Maria met Manju Jois with whom she completed 500 hours of teacher training seminars. So far she has been trained more than 2000 hours on primary and intermediate series and keeps practicing. In 2012, Manju Jois authorized her to teach the primary series in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.

Maria lives and practices in Athens introducing people to the yogic path, sharing her knowledge and experience.
